ABOUT US
12 years ago, a bunch of actors/creatives got together for the first time to play a game of Dungeons & Dragons. Some of the players had been playing D&D since they were teenagers, some hadn’t played in over 15 years, whilst others were completely new to the game. The campaign they were due to play was called The Savage Tide - a campaign designed to take characters from the heady days of first level all the way to the giddy heights of level 20. Right from the off the players were hooked! This was going to be a fun game to play! The campaign began in the city of Sasserine and nearby environs, where the party discovered clues about an impending disaster called the Savage Tide. The action then moved to the Isle of Dread for the middle portion of the series, where the party dealt with the dangers of the island and unearthed more information about the Savage Tide. After a short stop in the depraved pirate city of Scuttlecove, the final chapters of the campaign took place in the Abyss, where the party had to find a way to stop the Savage Tide and confront its architect- Demogorgon! That campaign took the players over seven years to complete! Why so long? Well, not only was the story incredibly vast but also each player had created incredible backstory’s for their characters, which the DM then effortlessly weaved into the tale. As result, it became this epic, sprawling adventure, one that the players and the DM would never forget.
Hungry for more adventure, the same players embarked on their next campaign - The Rise of the Runelords. A campaign, that once again, took the party of adventurers from 1st level to over 18th level. Rise of the Runelords began with a goblin attack and then took the players on an epic journey through the land of Varisia as they tracked a cult of serial killers, fought depraved backwoods ogres, stopped an advancing army of stone giants, delved deep into ancient dungeons to reclaim weapons of unbelievable power, and then finally went up against an all-powerful wizard-king in his ancient mountaintop city. This campaign took 5 them years to complete! Incredibly though, during the campaign, the DM somehow managed to weave some of the characters they met/played from The Savage Tide into Rise of the Runelords. Talk about a Multiverse!
In both campaigns, incredible characters were created, insane game scenarios were created, laughter was always abundant, as well as moments of sadness and pathos that resonated deeply whenever a character died or their backstory was revealed. Only D&D can create such an atmosphere. As a result an unbreakable gaming bond was created between the players and whenever they met up, in person, at work, or over the phone, they would always talk about the amazing moments they had during these games.
However, they soon realised that all they had to remember about these great games were their character sheets, their miniatures and of course their memories. And memories can fade, or moments can be mis-remembered. Looking back the players realised, they hadn’t created any adventure logs, taken/collected any photos of the monsters/characters they met along the way or printed any maps to look at afterwards etc. Which seemed such a shame. All of which, led to this website. This website has primarily been created to document everything, the players see, experience and feel during their next campaign - The Curse of the Crimson Throne. The idea being that in 5-6 years time, The Savage Times, as they like to call themselves, realise what an incredible adventure they experienced. However, it is also their hope that if anybody else reads this or views the various pages on this site, that they can see how much fun and adventure this campaign was to play, how great D&D/Pathfinder is and to possibly inspire other D&D groups to create something similar for their own campaigns. The Savage Times would love to see/read their adventures too!
